• Macbooks should be handled with care at all times.

  • Students are required to keep the protective covers (top and bottom) attached to the Macbook at all times.  Damages caused to the laptop when the protective covers are not attached are not considered accidental.

  • Padded zipper cases are provided to every student and should be utilized as much as possible to help protect the Macbook.

  • It is recommended that you leave your power adapter at home.  Carrying it with you could increase the risk of loss or theft.

  • Never mar or deface the Macbook by scratching it, drawing on it, putting stickers on it or changing its look or integrity in any way.

  • Do NOT touch the screen on your Macbooks with your finger or any other implement.  It is not a touchscreen device.

  • Never exert pressure on the Macbook, which could break the screen. For example, be careful not to throw or lean on your backpack when the device is inside it.

  • When carrying the Macbooks, make sure it is closed and that you cradle the hinge side in your hand as you would a book.  Do NOT carry it by the screen.

  • Be sure to always charge your Macbook overnight, only using the Apple charger and cord issued to you by the district.

  • Do not allow others to use your Macbook or charger since you are ultimately responsible for it.

  • Be gentle when plugging and unplugging the charging cord, flash drive, or any other peripheral. Yanking things out, especially at an angle, can damage the port and render the device unusable.

  • Do not place your Macbooks in a precarious position in order to avoid it falling, or having something fall on it.

  • Refrain from eating and drinking in the vicinity of your Macbooks.  Liquid contact is typically one of the most expensive repairs.

  • Properly restart your laptop frequently.  Many mystery performance issues are resolved with a simple reboot that takes less than a minute to complete.

Technical Issues and Damages

If it should sustain damage or lose functionality for any reason, please visit the school's tech department for assessment and repair.  If needed, a loaner laptop will be provided.  If a loaner is provided, the student is responsible for its care and safekeeping while the primary laptop is being fixed.

If your Macbook is lost or stolen, report it to the main office as soon as possible.

Damages are assessed by the technical specialist and students are responsible for damages that are caused by neglect.

The first accidental damage is covered.  Negligent damages are never covered.
